What is the difference between virtual study mode and distance study mode?
You can choose to study AHRI’s BSB40420 Certificate IV in Human Resources Management via virtual workshop or distance independent study mode. Both options run over a study period of 11 -months.
The virtual workshops are designed to deliver the content of the program topics in an environment where engaging peer discussion takes place. Virtual workshops provide the opportunity for interactive learning, and they are an ideal way to form new professional networks. AHRI recommends undertaking this mode of study if you:
- Are new to HR
- Need to deeply broaden your skillsets
- Require additional support throughout your study
- Would like to learn from others in the field in a peer-to-peer environment.
Studying via distance independent study is a popular option for those unable to attend the full-day virtual workshops or who have a bit more of understanding of HR already. This form of independent study requires a self-motivated approach to studying where students take responsibility for their own learning experiences – using their initiative in researching, undertaking online learning, time management and applying links between theory and practice. Topic delivery and assessment due dates are the same as for virtual workshop delivery, and units are undertaken in the same sequential order.
If you are not currently working in an HR-related role, AHRI strongly encourages studying via virtual workshop delivery, which gives you the opportunity to benefit from facilitator-led sessions and peer discussions.
For more information on the differences between distance and virtual workshop mode, refer to the Program Information guide here.
How will I be assessed? Are group assessments required?
Assessments may include knowledge questions, case studies, practical demonstrations, video recording of presentation and group project work. Some units include mandatory group assessments conducted online with or without the assessor. Some assessments can also be completed at your workplace. If group work may be challenging for you, contact Student Support before enrolling.
When does the program run and are there breaks?
There are three scheduled intakes each year. The eleven-month course generally runs topics back-to-back, with a break over Christmas/New Year and sometimes Easter. Upcoming dates are listed online.
What are the tuition fees and are there additional costs?
- Distance: $3,195 (members) / $3,834 (non-members)
