What is affiliate membership?

Sometimes you just need HR information or support, without the extras.

As an affiliate member of AHRI, you will have the support and HR resources you need to successfully manage people and HR processes in your organisation.

Who can join?

You do not need to know anything about HR or have a background in the HR profession to apply for affiliate membership. Affiliate members are also not required to undertake continuing professional development.

Affiliate membership is suitable if you

  • Have management responsibilities but HR is not your primary function, e.g. line managers, team leaders, small business owners; OR
  • Work in HR, but do not yet meet professional membership requirements (MAHRI or FAHRI), and are not eligible for student or graduate (GAHRI) membership.

Step 1: Application and payment

You can apply online and pay by credit card, and a receipt will be automatically emailed to you.

Step 2: Your member profile

Your new AHRI membership profile will be created with your personal and employment/study details. Please note your username and password so you can access members-only webpages once your application is completed.

Step 3: Confirmation

Your application will be processed immediately and you will receive a confirmation email and welcome pack.

*If you are living outside of Australia and submitted a PDF application form, please allow up to 7 days for your application to be reviewed. A confirmation email will be sent to you when your membership has been reviewed and approved. You will be posted a new member pack in the mail within 7 days of your membership being confirmed.

Can I share my login details with a friend or colleague?

Your login details are only for your own personal use and should never be shared. Your personal information (including your home address, email address and date of birth) is visible to anyone using your login details, as is your CPD record. Please log out of your AHRI profile before you register another person for an event or course.

How do I become a linked member of an organisation?

All requests for new or existing individual members to be linked to an organisation membership should be directed to the organisation's principal member or nominated contact.

How do I update my address and contact details?

You can update your details in several ways:

  • Login to your member profile on the website,
  • Return your HRM magazine cover sheet with your new address to us,
  • Update your details on your renewal form when you renew your membership, or
  • Call 03 9918 9230 to speak to a Member Career Partner or email your updated details to [email protected]

How do I upgrade my membership?

You can upgrade your membership at any time by completing the appropriate online upgrade form, which you can accessed in your member profile. If your membership is linked to an organisation membership, please email [email protected] for details. Ensure that you meet the eligibility requirements before submitting your documents for consideration of an upgrade. A one-off, non-refundable upgrade assessment fee of $60.50 is payable.

How long does a membership period run for?

Membership is for 12 months from the date of application or renewal. Your renewal date is rounded to the closest end of the month. For example, If you apply on or before 15 November, your renewal date is 31 October in the following year; or if you apply after 15 November your renewal date will be 30 November.

How quickly are membership applications processed?

New affiliate and student member applications are processed right away once payment is received. Professional membership applications are processed within 1-2 business days.

How will I know if my application has been approved?

All upgrade applicants will be notified of the outcome via email when it has been approved. Upgrade packs will also be posted out (except for free student members upgrading to paid student members) and will include a new certificate of membership.

I am studying part-time but I am over 25 years of age. Can I still apply for student or graduate membership?

There is no age limit for Student or Graduate membership.

What payment methods can I use to pay my membership fee?

AHRI accepts Visa, MasterCard, Diners or American Express when paying your annual membership fee. You can also pay over the phone (03 9918 9230) by providing your credit card details, by cheque made payable to AHRI or by EFT payment.
