Volunteer roles at AHRI

Roles and responsibilities

  • Represent and engage with AHRI members in your State or Territory and provide feedback to AHRI.
  • Design and develop programs for AHRI State Conferences.
  • Develop programs for local Network Forum events.
  • Promote AHRI membership.
  • Encourage uptake of HR Certification.
  • Support and implement AHRI’s vision for the HR profession.

Requirements

  • Hold an individual professional membership with AHRI.
  • Be HR Certified (CPHR or FCPHR) or working towards HR certification.
  • Be available to attend in-person or online meetings (typically monthly and possibly held after hours).

Roles and responsibilities

  • Lead a state-based Network Forum committee.
  • Organise and host events and discussion forums, including sourcing topics and speakers.
  • Promote events across social media channels.
  • Plan and deliver member engagement activities within the local network.
  • Work closely with the State Council for guidance and support.
  • Contribute to the content of AHRI’s state and national conferences.

The activities of AHRI Network Forums can vary and depend on each group’s interests.

Requirements

  • Hold an individual professional AHRI membership (MAHRI, CPHR or FCPHR).
  • Be available to attend in-person or online Network Forum events as required, including possible after-hours sessions.
  • Be willing to use Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and the AHRI website portal.

Support the Convenor in the successful delivery of Network Forum events, including:

  • Planning and coordinating events
  • Identifying relevant topics for discussion
  • Selecting and liaising with speakers
  • Securing suitable local venues (preferably complimentary)
  • Promoting events through personal and professional networks.

What do they do?

Network Convenors source speakers across all the skill and knowledge areas of the Australian HR Competency Framework to present at their in-person or online events.

In addition to network forums AHRI conducts a range of national and state-based events annually and encourages presentation proposals from both AHRI members and non-members for inclusion.

What’s in it for you?

Network Forum speakers provide their services free of charge and are rewarded with an opportunity to share their knowledge and expertise and to engage with AHRI’s HR professionals.

What do they do?

AHRI’s National Convention & Exhibition (NCE) is our flagship annual event, attracting 2000 HR professionals. NCE volunteers are integral in supporting the delivery of this major event. 

They are typically students who are available for a variety of roles and shifts across all event days, who are passionate about events or HR and are keen to gain valuable front-line event experience.

Who is eligible?

Reliability, a positive attitude, lots of enthusiasm and the ability to take direction from a leader to assist with meet and greet, registration assistance, room monitoring, information and wayfinding directions.

Notice of this opportunity is provided prior to the event.

What’s in it for you?

Affiliation with AHRI (i.e. via LinkedIn), experience assisting with a large-scale event in a premier event venue, behind the scenes exposure to Australia’s premier HR event, and opportunities to meet and network with like-minded fellow students.
