Life's best prize and the meaning of work

“Far and away the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing.”

When Teddy Roosevelt said that in 1903 to a group of farmers, his version of work worth doing was about providing for a family. But as we enter a new era of human productivity, the idea of meaning takes on new connotations.

Join behavioural scientist Matt Wallaert as he talks about management, motivation, and how behaviour change can happen at scale inside organisations.

Get big things done: Unleash your connectional intelligence

Success and leadership are typically associated with smarts, passion and luck. But in today’s world, those gifts aren’t enough. Strategist Erica Dhawan argues that the game changer is a modern skill called Connectional Intelligence (CxQ) – the ability to combine knowledge, ambition and human capital to forge global connections and create value and meaning.

As radical a concept as Emotional Intelligence was in the 90s, Connectional Intelligence is helping people enlist supporters, accelerate innovation, develop strategies and sustain solutions to big problems. In this keynote, Erica Dhawan will show you how you can harness CxQ.

The missing ingredient of leadership

Being a leader in HR requires outstanding communication skills ranging from the ability to inspire large groups and engage the community, to simply embodying trust in the development of individual relationships. Vocal and physical psychology are by far the most critical components of face-to-face engagement, but research has shown that most people could not recognise their own voice in a crowd, have no inkling of how it is produced and are bewildered by the thought of change. Then we start on the body!

Dr Louise Mahler will share her expertise on the patterns of leadership communication, and comedian Gerry Connolly will demonstrate examples of some leaders' often hilarious choices.

You will leave the day enlightened and re-aligned to face the future, with a song in your heart and a skip in your step. Your body and its habitual patterns have a massive impact on your influence. Your road to understanding them is an integral part to motivating and inspiring others, and the game starts now.
