Become a graduate member (GAHRI)

What is graduate membership?

Graduate membership is a professional-level membership offered to support recent HR graduates in the first two years of their HR career. Graduate members receive all the professional level benefits at a subsidised rate including AHRI ProCover insurance and full access to member resources, development programs and networking opportunities to help you build a successful HR career. Please ensure you have a copy of your transcript or certificate to upload to the qualifications section of the application form.

Graduate membership offers recent HR graduates a professional level membership at the reduced annual fee. This is available for two years. At the completion of your two-year graduate membership, one of our member support team will be in contact to guide you through the most appropriate next level membership that will match your career status.

Q. How long does a membership period run for?

Membership is for 12 months from the date of application or renewal. Your renewal date is rounded to the closest end of the month. For example, If you apply on or before 15 November, your renewal date is 31 October in the following year; or if you apply after 15 November your renewal date will be 30 November.

Q. How do I use post-nominal letters and why should I use them?

Post-nominal letters (also known as designatory letters) are a set of letters that are included after your name to indicate your qualifications, honours or accreditation.

AHRI professional members are able to include their AHRI membership level as a post-nominal. This is a short-hand way of indicating to others that you have been assessed by AHRI and have achieved a particular membership level based on this assessment.

AHRI encourages all professional members who are entitled to use post-nominals to do so, thus proudly demonstrating your professional standing and credibility, and improve your career prospects. Post-nominal letters are typically included on business cards, resumes and CVs and are increasingly being included in email signatures.

You may use more than one post-nominal after your name. Here are two examples:

1) Jane Smith PhD, FAHRI (Jane has a PhD and is a Fellow of AHRI).

2) John Smith BBus (HRMgt)Hons, MAHRI (John has a Bachelor of Business in HR Management with honours, and is a professional member of AHRI).
