PROFILE: Katherine Woodman from Spicers
Participants in the AHRI Practising Certification Program are reaping the benefits, even before completing their studies to become Certified HR Practitioners.
With HR certification now firmly established as the professional standard for HR in Australia, HR practitioners who have commenced their certification journey are fast discovering how HR can influence the big picture, by aligning their HR function with strategic business needs.
Katherine Woodman, HR Manager at Spicers, started the APC Program just as her role shifted to “one of strategic influence and action, and less a ‘tick and flick’ compliance-based function”.
The work-integrated program has enabled Katherine to enact real organisational change based on her practical assessments: “The assessment format encourages work that is based on reviewing and reflecting upon your current role and work environment.”
Her CEO and colleagues recognised her growing professional HR and leadership capabilities: “They identified a significant change in my confidence, conviction and contributions around the leadership table since my commencing the APC.”
Katherine loves the workshop format which has helped foster a support network amongst her cohort. “Taking time out to focus on learnings, network and share ideas, best practice and feedback with peers in other organisations has been invaluable.”
Katherine has successfully completed Units 1, 2 and 3 of the APC Program, and is now commencing on the final capstone unit.
