Our Queensland Networks

Attraction, Recruitment and Retention network

The main focus of the QLD Attraction, Recruitment and Retention (AR&R) network is to enhance and advance the professional development of the network members and engage in open forum discussions. Experienced HR practitioners are invited to share their knowledge and experience by presenting at early evening events and participating in discussions.

We seek to stimulate, assess and promote innovative solutions that assist in the attraction, recruitment and retention of high calibre people, both in times of skills shortages and when candidates are more numerous.

Cairns Emerging HR Professionals network

The AHRI Cairns Emerging HR Professionals network’s purpose is to provide relevant professional development for members of AHRI and their guests in the Cairns region. Network activities are organised each year in response to emerging human resource management trends and issues relevant to the Cairns region.

For 2021, the Cairns Emerging HR Professionals Network will be running a Speed Networking event during National Careers Week (17 – 23 May 2021) and collaborating with the Cairns Network for a number of in person networking events throughout the year.

Cairns network

The AHRI Cairns network’s purpose is to provide relevant professional development for members of AHRI and their guests in the Cairns region. Network activities are organised each year in response to emerging human resource management trends and issues relevant to the Cairns region.

For 2022, the Cairns Network will be offering a mix of in-person networking events and professional development opportunities which supplement AHRI’s National Online CPD Events.

Diversity & Inclusion network

The QLD Diversity & Inclusion network meets with a formal or informal presentation and discussion of topic issues.

The network aims to contribute to the development of AHRI members by providing opportunities to discuss and hear about key issues affecting organisations in relation to work-life balance and diversity.

Emerging HR Professionals network

The QLD Emerging HR Professionals network is a group designed for working young professionals who are in the early stages of starting their careers in the HR field and/or for those professionals who have been working within HR roles for some time but are keen to further develop their careers in the HR field.

The focus is on learning about working in the HR profession in different capacities and meeting other HR professionals. Meetings are often a mix of case studies, networking and HR practitioners sharing their own experiences.

Employee Relations/ Industrial Relations network

The QLD Employee Relations/Industrial Relations (ER/IR) network aims to provide local AHRI members with a range of advice and assistance regarding employment and workplace relations matters and the policy environment.

The network seeks to explore specific topics of interest and involve participants in a range of activities including discussions, seminars and forums to develop their skills and knowledge about key aspects of the relevant frameworks and practical issues to successfully implementing changes in the workplace.

Topics of interest may include workplace agreement negotiations, transfer of business, Union right of entry, managing employee performance, managing industrial action and/or disputes in the workplace, managing ill and injured workers, termination of employment, workplace policies and procedures, unfair dismissal claims, discrimination claims, bullying and harassment, award rates, entitlements and related employment conditions.

Gold Coast network

The AHRI Gold Coast network’s purpose is to provide relevant professional development for members of AHRI and their guests in the Gold Coast region. Network activities are organised each year in response to emerging human resource management trends and issues relevant to the Gold Coast region.

Examples of presentation topics have included, ageing population, change management, industrial relations, occupational health and safety, and performance management, just to name a few.

International HR Network

The Queensland International HR network aims to lead and grow the body of knowledge and to enhance the understanding of HR professionals by promoting awareness, educating and facilitating discussion on international human resources issues.

Typical topics include tax, legal, employment, immigration, culture and other issues faced when managing human resources across international boundaries including international assignment programs, relocation processes, on assignment support, repatriation assistance, employment law and training and development.

Ipswich network

The AHRI Ipswich network’s purpose is to provide relevant professional development for members of AHRI and their guests in the Ipswich region. Network activities are organised each year in response to emerging human resource management trends and issues relevant to the Ipswich region.

The QLD Learning & Development (L&D) network is a network and community of practice for sharing and promoting great L&D delivery, management and research.

Our network welcomes L&D practitioners, HR generalists with L&D responsibilities, all AHRI members and seeks to influence the wider business, government, and workplace education community. Our goal is improving the field of Learning and Development within Brisbane as well as each individual’s impact in their respective workplaces.

Mackay network

The AHRI Mackay network’s purpose is to provide relevant professional development for members of AHRI and their guests in the Mackay region. Network activities are organised each year in response to emerging human resource management trends and issues relevant to the Mackay region.

The main focus of the QLD Organisational Design and Development (OD&D) network is to raise awareness of OD&D and build an informal community of practice for OD professionals in the QLD area.

The OD&D network brings together professionals that are committed to building agility and growth in their organisation through effective change management and strategic design. Through collaboration of experience, guest speakers and effective networking the forums will engage and inspire.

Performance and Reward network

The focus of the QLD Performance and Reward (P&R) network is to identify topical and leading edge topics, and convert these topics into outstanding learning activities for HR practitioners. Our forums are avenues for practitioners to share experiences and views. They are intended to help members develop and implement sound, innovative strategies to help better align total rewards programs with business success.

Whether you are considering how to respond to legislative change, retain talent in a competitive market, incentivise and recognise performance or simply wanting to share ideas – our forums aim to assist.

QLD HR Tech and Analytics Forum

The focus of the QLD HR Tech and Analytics Forum will be to bring together HR professionals who are interested in or embarking on the journey to implement analytic tools and to develop personal and team competencies around analytics. Whether it’s a conference, article or workshop, many people are talking about HR analytics as a trend but little is being communicated about how to start an analytics initiative – we hope to fill this information gap.

There is also the opportunity to develop an awareness and mind-shift from using HR data to validate HR ROI (lag indicator) to the analytics approach which incorporates HR and business data together to quantify the ROI of HR practices on operational outcomes (lead indicator).

WHS/Wellness network

The QLD Work, Health and Safety/Wellness network offers practical information and insights on current and topical health and safety matters to assist in ensuring employers remain abreast of legislative requirements and develop effective WHS Solutions.

In addition, the forum also focuses on the emerging discipline of workplace wellness with the aim of educating employers and AHRI professionals around best practices and trends in the corporate wellness space.
