Ruby Anandajayasekeram
Biography
Ruby Anandajayasekeram (she/her) pivoted her career in 2021 to pursue her passion and purpose – contributing to more diverse, inclusive and equitable workplaces and society – after a rewarding 20+ year global corporate legal career where DE&I featured prominently as her side-gig.
As Global DE&I Advisor at Shell, a global energy company with more than 90,000 employees in more than 70 countries, her work supports Shell to achieve its goal of becoming one of the most diverse and inclusive companies in the world. To drive this she partners with senior leaders and teams across the business along with Shell’s employee resource groups to design and deliver strategic global DE&I projects, processes and policies.
She has actively championed DE&I throughout her career. This included chairing Shell’s CEO-sponsored Employee Advisory Board to the Global Council of Race – established in 2020 after George Floyd’s murder – to ensure that race and ethnicity plans were shaped by the voices and lived experiences of staff. She also contributed to Norah Breekveldt’s book “Me and My Mentor: How Mentoring Supercharged the Careers of 11 Extraordinary Women”.
Ruby is alumni of the Williamson Community Leadership Victoria Program and holds Bachelors’ degrees in Law (Hons) and Commerce. In her legal career, she served as a Committee Member for the Association of Corporate Counsel and Victorian Women Lawyers, was nominated for the Financial Times Lawyers Innovation Award and recognized as a Leading In-House Environmental Lawyer in the Doyle’s Guide. As a relative newcomer to the HR world, she looks forward to meeting new faces, learning from each other, and contributing to the profession and wider community.
