Helen Clark, Former Prime Minister of New Zealand

Former Prime Minister of New Zealand Helen Clark is a global leader in sustainable development and gender equality. In July 2020 in response to the COVID crisis, she was appointed by the Director-General of the World Health organisation (WHO) to co-chair the Independent Panel for Pandemic Preparedness and Response. She also chairs the Partnership for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health which has highlighted the particular impacts of the pandemic on women, children, and adolescents. Join an intimate conversation with this global leader as we explore the lessons that have been learnt over recent years and what the long, winding and uncertain road ahead may hold.

Driving transformation of practice and capability uplift in mental health and suicide prevention: A case study from the Australian Public Service

To support APS agencies to align their practice to the APS Mental Health Capability Framework, the APS Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Unit has developed a comprehensive, six-phase implementation approach. This includes supporting agencies to undertake a Maturity Scale Assessment, enabling them to visually articulate their own mental health and wellbeing system, demonstrating how sections of their system interface and evaluate their system’s maturity against the systems-based and evidence-informed approach to building workforce capability, represented by the framework. This session will provide an overview of the implementation approach being taken and demonstrate how this is driving transformation of practice and capability uplift in the APS, featuring a case study and learnings from the experience implementing the approach with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet.
