Course Overview – People Analytics & Insights – Foundations
This introductory course demystifies data-driven decision-making in HR, catering especially to those who may feel they are “not data people.” In today’s business environment, where data-led approaches are crucial for HR’s credibility and impact, this course offers a foundational understanding of people analytics and workforce metrics. Participants will explore the drivers of data-informed decisions, learn about the scope and maturity of people analytics, and start to develop skills in applying workforce metrics to business challenges. By building knowledge in these areas, HR practitioners can enhance their analytical capabilities, contributing effectively to business strategies and decision-making. This course empowers HR professionals to embrace a data-driven mindset, ensuring they maintain and build the trust and respect of their organisations. 

Target Audience  
Human Resource practitioners who are not ‘data savvy’, who wish to increase their ability to use evidence-based workforce insights to inform and influence business outcomes.

Key Learning Outcomes 
Following the training, participants will be able to:

• Understand the drivers of data-driven decision making, people analytics scope and maturity indicators and the basics of workforce metrics including terminology, different data sources, systems and flow between data and sources
• Determine applicable key workforce metrics that best support data-driven, evidence-based business decision making for your business context
• How to apply a data-driven mindset to HR strategies and challenges and to navigate, share and utilise data to explore key people and organisational metrics and information
• How to apply a range of foundational data analysis techniques to calculate people metrics and explore trends
• How to build a hypothesis to identify and evaluate possible root causes for current or emerging workforce risks
