Introduction to HR Law

Employment law underpins much of the work that HR practitioners do across the employment lifecycle. This course provides participants with an introduction to employment law in Australia and the key elements that HR practitioners need to be aware of in their practice. Participants will learn about key pieces of legislation, including the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and amendments to the Act, to gain an understanding of the key elements of legislation, regulation and practices that impact how human resources are managed within organisations. This course is offered in partnership with Australian Business Lawyers & Advisors. It is facilitated by an ABLA employment law specialist to ensure participants have access to current and best practice employment law information and practices.
This course is suitable for HR professionals, managers and employees interested in developing an understanding the legislation that applies to employment relationships.
Key Learning Outcomes
- Identify the key provisions of the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) and amendments to the Act and other relevant legislation as it applies to the employment relationship
- Describe the role and responsibilities of regulatory bodies in the governing of the employment relationship
- Identify any compliance gaps/issues in your organisation and establish a plan to address these gaps and issues
