FreeRebecca is the GM, People of the Australian business for BlueScope, a position that covers all aspects of People and Culture for over 7000 permanent employees across 100 different sites in Australia. With extensive experience both locally and internationally, she has led change management programmes in difficult market conditions and held senior leadership roles, partnering with Boards and leadership teams to drive business improvement across multi-cultural workforces in operational environments.
Rebecca will speak to the importance of the People function’s role in the development of a business strategy that is human centric and has the employee experience front of mind. Being on the leadership team that created BlueScope Australia’s vision and growth focussed strategy, Rebecca will be able to show you how the People strategy is an integral part of that business strategy, how it evolved to fully align and what we are putting in place to elevate our people’s experience.

Speaker: Rebecca Roberts General Manager- People Australian Steel Products
Rebecca is the General Manager, People for the Australian Steel Products business, a position that has accountability for all aspects of People and Culture for over 7000 permanent employees and 3000 contractors across 100 different sites in Australia.
Rebecca has extensive experience both locally and internationally. She began her career in the car industry, working for Ford Motor Company in New Zealand, and then moved to Europe with Ford and was there for 11 years.
Rebecca’s experience covers all facets of the People function including Health and Safety and Corporate Affairs. She has led change management programmes in difficult market conditions and held senior leadership roles, partnering with Boards and leaderships teams to drive business improvement across multi-cultural workforces in operational environments.
Prior to joining BlueScope in January 2020, she was VP, Talent for the AMEA region in ABB, a global engineering company, with 150,000 employees in over 100 countries. She joined ABB in 2013 as VP, Human Resources Australia & NZ.
In ABB, Rebecca also led the setup and delivery of a talent centre of expertise across the 48 countries in the AMEA region to support growth and key global initiatives including a digital transformation and was able to deliver on her ambition to identify and develop talent.
Rebecca is passionate about identifying and developing talent, building capability for future readiness, working with the business as a trusted partner to deliver a better customer and employee experience across a national footprint in industry.
