In today’s business world there is growing availability of readily accessible data on virtually every aspect of the development and management of people – from comprehensive payroll systems to corporate databases, to custom built spreadsheets of opinion survey responses. Selecting the right workforce metrics from this plethora of data sources to support long-term business performance is an area that many organisations still struggle with. Although often the goal, it is challenging to establish a set of measures that you can consistently collate and report on regularly within your organisation which enable disciplined and well-informed people-oriented decisions.
This course will enable you to identify meaningful measures of workforce performance in the context of your organisation’s business objectives and goals. It will also assist in developing a sustainable measurement and reporting process.
This course has been designed for, but is not limited to, those requiring a foundational level of knowledge and application of workforce metrics, in particular HR and IT analysts, HR generalists and HR systems technicians. It would also suit managers who are either responsible for, or who are intending to establish a workforce analytics and reporting function.

Following the training participants will be able to:
- Articulate common workforce metrics terminology
- Define foundational workforce metrics and their application through the use of consistent measurement standards
- Determine the key workforce metrics applicable to your organisation’s business context and HR goals which best support data-driven decision making
- Develop a process to enable regular and consistent monitoring and reporting of key workforce metrics of relevance
- Recognise and interpret inter-relationships between workforce metrics
This course is designed to be interactive in nature with content and learning activities provided in a comprehensive workbook which can be used as a resource tool for you and your organisation.
