    Who is this course designed for?

    • New entrants in the field of HR, seeking the essential foundational skills and knowledge of the HR professional
    • Practising HR professionals, seeking to expand and broaden their capabilities, across a range of human resources support roles
    • Payroll officers who want to understand the broader context of their role within HR
    • Office managers and administration personnel responsible for HR functions
    • Personal and executive assistants who are regularly called on to support HR functions.

    Course outcomes

    Upon completion of the program participants should be able to:

    • Have a deeper understanding of the role HR plays in supporting the business strategy
    • Link the sourcing and development of talent to their organisation's business goals
    • Be aware of key workplace legislations as they relate to the employment cycle
    • Understand the purposes and importance of training and development
    • Understand the role of performance management in supporting and developing a productive workplace
    • Be aware of responsibilities and liabilities of management with respect to ensuring a safe and healthy work environment
    • Measure the value and return on investment of HR interventions and how they contribute to a business' bottom line.

    Entry requirements

    There are no prerequisites for enrolment.

    Recognition of prior learning and credit transfers may apply.

    Course duration and delivery mode

    Option 1: 6 months

    Students complete the six topics sequentially and each topic runs for a period of four weeks. 

    Students can select to complete the six month program either via workshop delivery or through distance learning.

    Workshop delivery

    There are six workshops which are designed to deliver the content of the course topics in an environment where open discussion takes place and students can ask questions from their facilitator and their peers. They provide interactive and focused sessions on how to apply HR knowledge to practical situations, and provide the opportunity for interactive learning.

    Distance learning

    There are no face-to-face workshops to attend with this mode of delivery and study occurs at your chosen time and pace. Participants will have access to an academic coordinator  whose role is to provide support by answering questions in relation to the workbook content and assessments.

    Option 2: 12 months

    The 12 month study option enables students greater time to complete each of the six topics. 

    The 12 month program is only available for study via distance learning.

    Distance learning

    There are no face-to-face workshops to attend with this mode of delivery and study occurs at your chosen time and pace. Participants will have access to an academic coordinator  whose role is to provide support by answering questions in relation to the workbook content and assessments.

    Assessment

    Assessment is made up of one written assessment for each topic, designed to assess participant knowledge. Assessments allow participants to utilise current workplace experience and assessments are submitted progressively throughout the training period. There are no formal exams.

    In addition to the written topic assessments, the program seeks to validate both knowledge and skills are being developed and this is achieved via support from a workplace supervisor using supervisor checklists. Where you do not have a workplace or supervisor, alternate assessment is available.

    Victorian Training Guarantee Subsidy


    You may be eligible for a government-subsidised place in a vocational training course. This is called the Victorian Training Guarantee (VTG). This is for Victorian Students only.

    Or complete the questions below:

    Question 1 - are you....

    • an Australian citizen; or
    • a holder of a permanent resident visa; or
    • a New Zealand citizen
    • If YES, go to question 2.
    • If NO, based on your answer you may not be eligible for Victorian government-subsidised training under the Victorian Training Guarantee.

    Question 2 - Are you planning to undertake vocational training while you are enrolled in school?

    • If YES, you may eligible for a government-subsidised training under the Victorian Training Guarantee if your course is part of a School-Based Apprenticeship or Traineeship. The Government supports schools in other ways to offer vocational training to their students, so you should discuss all your options with your school.
    • If NO, go to question 3.

    Question 3 - Are you under 20 years of age on 1 January 2018?

    • If YES, based on your answer, you may be eligible for a government-subsidised place in a vocational training course at any level, other than Foundation Skills courses. You may also be eligible for a government-subsidised place in a Foundation Skills course, unless you are receiving equivalent training elsewhere. You can enrol in a maximum of two government-subsidised courses in one year (including courses on the approved Foundation Skills List). This maximum doesn’t include pre-apprenticeships for individuals who want to enrol in an apprenticeship.

      You can undertake up to two government-subsidised courses at one time (including courses on the approved Foundation Skills List).

      You can only ever begin a maximum of two government-subsidised courses at the same qualification level. This restriction does not apply to courses on the Foundation Skills List, Victorian Certificate of Education (VCE)/Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) or to students starting training again in the same qualification (at the same or a different provider).

    • If NO, eligibility will depend on the highest level of qualification that you hold.  To be eligible for AHRI's BSB41015 Certificate IV in Human Resources then you must not have completed a qualification higher than a Certificate III (with the exception of Foundation Skills courses, Senior Secondary certificates, vocational certificates completed as part of your secondary school studies and overseas qualifications where no equivalent AQF qualification has been established).
    • Go to question 4

    Question 4 - Do you hold an Australian qualification at the same level (Certificate IV), or higher?

    • NO - then you may be eligible for a government funded training place.

    • YES - then you are not eligible and will need to enrol as a full fee student.

    • Reduced (concession) fees are available to eligible students. To be eligible for a fee concession, you must hold a current Health Care Card, Pensioner Concession Card or Veterans Gold Card, or be a dependent spouse or child of such a cardholder. You much provide evidence of eligibility at the time of enrolment to receive a concession.

    Education support services

    Students will be supported by an academic coordinator whose role is to provide support by answering questions in relation to the workbook content and assessments.

    Students also have access to an online student forum where participants can share questions and ideas. These forums are an excellent way for students to communicate with each other about their studies. We encourage students to log in to the forums regularly throughout their course of study.

    Important Information
    • AHRI membership entitles you to a $300 discount on course fees. If you would like to become an AHRI member to reduce your program fees, you must do this prior to paying for the program. Given you are enrolling into the BSB41015 Certificate IV in HR, we recommend affiliate membership. Become a member.
      NB: Membership discounts cannot be allocated retrospectively from program fees paid.
    • Workshops are only confirmed once AHRI has received a minimum number of enrolments. If workshop delivery is cancelled in your state you will be offered
      • To transfer to distance delivery and receive a refund of the cost difference between workshop and distance learning.
      • Receive a full refund on course fees if you do not wish to study via distance.
      • Defer your enrolment to the Winter Series workshop – please note however that this will also be subject to AHRI receiving adequate numbers.
    • Enrolment into the BSB41015 Certificate IV in HR has two steps: 1) payment and 2) the completion of an online enrolment form.
      You must complete both steps in order to finalise your enrolment into the program. Within 24 hours of making payment you will receive an email from AHRI with three PDF documents attached, which include your

        • This is an important document.
