Championing human rights
Craig Foster, former Socceroos captain and human rights advocate
With 29 appearances on the Socceroos team, Craig's contribution to Australian communities goes beyond the playing field. In 2019 he led a global advocacy campaign to free a young refugee footballer, Hakeem al-Araibi from a Thai prison, where he faced extradition to Bahrain, torture, and probable loss of life.
Craig is a strong voice for equality and social justice, he is an Ambassador for The Homeless World Cup, The Big Issue Street Soccer Program for the homeless Football United, a charity for refugee and disadvantaged kids and John Moriarty Football, teaching football to indigenous kids in remote communities.
