Topic 2: Workplace and Employee Relations (Core)

Topic 2 covers the essential elements of employment practice that includes current legislation that underpins our practices. You will learn all about the legislative authorities, regulations and governing principles to better understand workplace compliance. The skills and knowledge gained in this topic will enable you to effectively implement employee and industrial relations policies and procedures within the workplace. The topic addresses the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to work with employee and industrial relations policies and procedures. It covers communicating and implementing employee relations policies and procedures that meet statutory and legislative requirements, assisting in dealing with employee relations conflicts and issues, and generally working towards a harmonious industrial relations climate in the workplace.
Learning outcomes:
- Understand the way that Australian legislation determines labour management and ethical accountability in the employment cycle
- Understanding of the relevant terms and conditions of employment, employee entitlements, awards, agreements and individual work contracts to support employment law matters
- Have the ability to faciltiate ER and IR resolution of workplace issues such as disputes, grievances and conflicts
- Identify and address issues in ER and IR processes collaboratively with stakeholders

To gain this nationally recognised qualification, you’ll need to have completed 12 units of competency on the following topics:
