You can choose to study AHRI’s Certificate IV in Human Resources Management program via Distance or Virtual Workshop mode over a study period of 9-months.
Students who select Virtual Workshop mode attend seven full-day, facilitator-led virtual workshops (via platforms such as Zoom) throughout the study period. These virtual workshops are designed to deliver the content of the program topics in an environment where peer discussion takes place. They provide an opportunity for interactive learning and are an ideal way to form new professional networks.
Students who select Distance mode are self-directed and can study at a different pace. Distance mode is a popular option for those that are unable to be absent from work to attend the full-day virtual workshops. The content of the program is covered via seven one-hour topic webinars throughout the program. There are also seven one-hour virtual check-in sessions hosted by a facilitator to provide students an opportunity to ask questions about the course content and assessment tasks.
For more information on the differences between Distance and Virtual Workshop mode, refer to the Program Information guide which can be downloaded from our website.
If you have existing qualifications or experience, you could be eligible to receive credit towards the outcomes of the program through skills recognition. There are two types of skills recognition: Credit Transfer (CT) and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Credit Transfer applies when a student has already met the learning / competency outcomes of the Certificate IV in Human Resources Management program through previous formal learning. Alternatively, skills and knowledge gained informally through life and work experience – which meet the competency requirements of VET training – can be formally recognised through Recognition of Prior Learning. To assess your eligibility for CT or RPL and make an application, visit this page on our website.
AHRI does not currently offer a Diploma of Human Resources. For experienced HR professionals with at least five years’ HR experience, or HR graduates with at least two years’ HR experience, we offer the AHRI Practising Certification (APC) program which is equivalent to an AQF Level 8 postgraduate certificate level, providing you advanced entry into Masters of HR or MBA qualifications. To learn more about the APC program, visit this page on our website. You may also be interested in AHRI’s suite of short courses – click here to learn more.
The updated BSB40420 release includes 8 units of competency which are equivalent to the previous package, but have been refreshed and updated to align with updated industry practices. 4 units of competency are new and have been designed to complement the existing package design. 2 units of competency have been archived in the current packaging rules (some of which have been integrated into new units of competency). Overall, AHRI’s Certificate IV has increased from 6 topics of study to 7 topics of study and the course now has a total of 12 competencies, up from 10 in the BSB41015 package. New elective competencies that are not covered in the BSB41015 package include:

- BSBOPS405 Organise business meetings
- BSBTEC404 Use digital technologies to collaborate in a work environment

We have extended the study period from 6 months to 9 months for both Virtual Workshop and Distance study modes.

Contact our Member and Student Support team to enquire about your eligibility for credit transfer at [email protected] or call (03) 9918 9230. Note: Credit Transfer applications with supporting documents must be submitted before the close of enrolment for each intake.
