Professional membership

AHRI professional membership is vital for HR practitioners wishing to keep up-to-date with the latest HR issues, research and developments to ensure their knowledge, skills and networks remain current.

Professional membership gives you complete access to AHRI member benefits including AHRI:ASSIST, plus you will be covered by AHRI's professional indemnity insurance AHRI ProCover and receive HRM magazine in the mail each month.

Upon joining as a professional member, you will be awarded a recognised AHRI member professional designation, represented by a post-nominal to be used after your name. The AHRI post-nominal makes you stand out from the crowd by demonstrating commitment to your career, and the HR profession.

All of AHRI professional-level members must satisfy the mandatory education and/or knowledge, skills and experience requirements and commit to AHRI's continuing professional development (CPD) program. Your AHRI membership level will progress with the advancement of your career and experience.

Professional Member: MAHRI

$378 per year

Minimum requirements:

  • An AHRI-accredited, or other HR relevant undergraduate qualification (at Bachelor degree level or higher) AND 2 years’ of recent experience in a HR role


  • Equivalent knowledge, skills and experience in the HR profession through a minimum of 5 years of HR workplace experience


  • 5 years' relevant vocational practice in management

You will need to have a copy of your CV ready to upload to your application. If you do not yet have 5 years' of HR or management experience you'll also need to upload your certificate or transcript from a HR relevant qualification to the qualifications section of the application form.

Fellow Member: FAHRI

$441 per year

AHRI Fellows are senior-level practising HR professionals. Applicants must hold an AHRI-accredited or relevant postgraduate qualification or can demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience in HR of 10 years or more, and also have a minimum of five years of experience in a strategic management or leadership position.

In addition, applicants must demonstrate a substantial contribution to the HR profession. Fellow applications are assessed and approved by the AHRI National President, and AHRI state council president.

Graduate Member: GAHRI

$139 per year

Graduate members must have graduated from a HR relevant qualification (at Bachelor degree level or higher) within the last two years.

Graduate membership provides professional level membership at the reduced annual fee limited to a two year period. Graduate membership provides full access to member resources to help build a successful future in the profession. At the completion of your two year graduate membership, one of our member support team will be in contact to guide you through the most appropriate next level membership that will match your career status.
