Becoming an AHRI member is easy:
Step 1: Choose your membership type
Choose the membership type you wish to apply for. We have a range, so make sure you're selecting the membership that is best suited to your background and needs. Our professional-level membership types (Graduate, MAHRI, CAHRI and FAHRI) each have specific work experience and qualification requirements. The AHRI membership team will review your application and contact you if you do not meet the correct requirements. If this is the case, we will help steer you to the right membership for you.
Step 2: Complete a joining form
Complete one of the membership forms below with your personal details and basic employment or study details (if applicable). This application will also create your new membership profile.Please take note of the username and password that you create, as you will use these details to access the member only pages of the website once your membership application is completed.
Make sure you have your credit card ready if joining online to pay for your first year's membership. Your receipt will automatically be emailed to you.Contact the team at AHRI at any time if you have any questions about membership and the joining process.
Step 3: Receive your welcome pack
If you have applied for a student membership you will not receive a welcome pack, but you can start using your benefits right away.
Affiliate memberships do not require any approval - your welcome pack will be posted to you within 7 days.
If you've applied for a professional membership the AHRI membership team will receive, review and process your application. Please allow up to 7 days for your application to be reviewed. A confirmation email will be sent to you when your membership has been reviewed and approved. You will be posted a new member pack in the mail within 7 days of your membership being confirmed.
Step 4: Consider certification
Take a look at the certification information and complete the certification pathfinder. If you're not yet ready to commence your certification journey (for example student members or graduate members), this is something you can work towards.
Professional Membership Applications
Please review the Professional Membership Criteria to ensure you meet the minimum requirements and have the relevant documents available to upload as part of your application.
Professional Member: MAHRI
$360 per year
- Your detailed CV (If you do not have an undergraduate qualification your CV will need to demonstrate 5+ years of experience in a HR or management role).
- Your CV demonstrating a minimum of 2 year's in a HR role AND your HR relevant undergraduate qualification certificate or academic transcript. Note: postgraduate qualifications are also acceptable.
$420 per year
AHRI Fellows are senior-level practicing HR professionals. Applicants must hold an AHRI-accredited or relevant postgraduate qualification or can demonstrate equivalent knowledge, skills and experience in HR of 10 years or more, and also have a minimum of five years of experience in a strategic management or leadership position.
In addition, applicants must demonstrate a substantial contribution to the HR industry. Fellow applications are assessed and approved by the AHRI National President, and AHRI state council president.
Prospective members interested in applying for Fellow membership and current members wishing to upgrade to Fellow membership must read the application guidelines specific to this membership type. All applications for Fellow must be submitted by using the below submission form.

Graduate Member: GAHRI
$132 per year
If you have graduated from a HR relevant qualification (minimum of a Bachelor degree) within the last 2 years, please provide:
- Proof of your Graduation (eg, academic transcript or certificate/testamur)
- Current CV.
This membership level is not suitable for people who have 4 or more year's of HR relevant experience.
Non-Professional Membership Applications
$33 per year
If you are a full-time or part-time student, studying at a tertiary level or equivalent, in HR, business, commerce or psychology you can join AHRI as a student member. The membership is designed for students that have not yet entered into the workforce and is therefore not suitable for people who have prior HR experience or are currently working in a HR role.
$300 per year
Affiliate membership is suitable for people working in HR who do not yet meet the requirements to apply for a professional membership, or for those with people management responsibilities but HR is not their primary function.
First make sure your company is not already a member. See our directory of organisation members or call a member of the AHRI team to do this.
Then complete the Organisation Application Form AND Linked Member Application forms below. There is not an online joining option for organisation membership. Print, complete and return BOTH forms to AHRI by email, fax or post (details are on the form).
Manual Application Forms
If you are unable to complete your application form online please email email@example.com and we can email you a printable form. You will need to email the completed form back to us for processing along with the relevant supporting documents. Manual applications will incur a $55 processing fee (this does not apply to Organisation Membership).Your membership will not be activated until your payment has been received.
