Jesuit Social Services

Jesuit Social Services responded to the challenge of creating social impact through workplace diversity and addressing the larger social issue of unemployment and under-employment for refugees and migrants.

A partnership was established between Jesuit Social Services and the National Australia Bank (NAB) to run the African Australian Inclusion Program (AAIP). The success of the AAIP has led to a broader initiative – Corporate Diversity Partnerships.

Corporate Diversity Partnerships have been developed between Jesuit Social Services and the following organisations:

  • John Holland
  • Australian Taxation Office (ATO)
  • Yarra Valley Water
  • Melbourne Water

Tailored programs have been designed that provide supported employment experience for people from diverse cultural backgrounds who are seeking employment in their field of expertise in Australia.

542 people from culturally diverse backgrounds have participated in a Corporate Diversity Partnerships program.

Beyond the metrics, the impact of the Corporate Diversity Partnerships can be seen at an individual, organisational and community level. In the words of a program participant:

“[It] is not really about giving me a job – it’s about transforming my life, transforming my household, transforming my extended family and transforming the community I represent”.
